Hair loss can feel deeply personal
For some people, it starts slowly. For others, it seems to change all at once. Either way, it can affect confidence, routine, and the simple feeling of recognising yourself in the mirror.
The frustrating part is that hair loss is rarely as straightforward as standard treatment pages make it sound. What works well for one person may irritate another scalp, feel impossible to keep up with, or simply fail to deliver the response they hoped for. When that happens, it is easy to feel stuck between generic options and guesswork.
That is why the Gro range was created by Courier Pharmacy. Instead of forcing everyone towards the same answer, Gro offers a more personalised way to approach hair loss treatment, with one of the widest and most flexible compounded hair loss ranges available in the UK.
The facts
A more tailored route through hair loss treatment
Most hair loss treatments focus on the product first. Gro starts with the person.
That means thinking about what may be driving the hair loss, how sensitive the scalp is, what sort of formulation is easiest to use consistently, and which active ingredients are most likely to make sense for that individual.
For some people, the priority is supporting the hair growth cycle. For others, it is reducing the hormonal pressure that contributes to follicle miniaturisation. Some need a broader strategy. Some need a gentler vehicle. Some need a treatment plan that feels manageable enough to stick with.
Gro was built for that reality.
A wider range, with room to personalise
Courier Pharmacy offers one of the largest compounded hair loss ranges in the UK, giving patients and prescribers far more flexibility than the standard off-the-shelf approach.
That means access to a broad choice of:
Active ingredients
Strengths
Single, dual, and triple combinations
Different topical vehicles
More tailored options for sensitive scalps, tolerability concerns, and treatment preferences
Where clinically appropriate, we can also create custom compounded hair loss treatments. So if a standard combination is not the right fit, the formula can be adjusted around the person rather than the person having to adapt to the formula.

How Gro helps simplify the process
The aim is to make hair loss treatment feel clearer and more manageable.
You start by sharing what is going on, including your concerns, treatment history, scalp sensitivities, and goals. From there, treatment can be shaped around the active ingredients, the vehicle, and where appropriate, TrichoTest genetic insights.
The result is a treatment path that feels less like trial and error and more like a plan.
Consistent pricing across the range
Each Gro product comes in a 30ml bottle designed to last one month. Pricing stays simple and consistent across the range, so you know exactly what to expect.

The science behind the Gro range
Hair loss treatment works best when it targets the right pathway.
Some people need support on the growth side of the cycle. Others need help reducing the hormonal signals that push follicles to shrink. Some need both. In addition, some people respond well to minoxidil, while others respond less well because of how their follicles process it.
Gro is designed around that reality.
How the active ingredients help counteract hair loss
Depending on the product selected, Gro formulations may include:
Minoxidil works on the growth side of the equation. More specifically, it is a potassium channel opener and vasodilator. Applied topically, it helps improve the local environment around the follicle, supports blood flow, and helps prolong the anagen, or growth, phase of the hair cycle.
In plain English, minoxidil helps sluggish follicles work harder and stay in growth mode for longer.
However, minoxidil has an important limitation. It is a prodrug, which means the follicle has to convert it into its active form before it can work properly. That conversion depends on follicular sulphotransferase activity, often linked with the SULT1A1 pathway. Some people have strong activity here and respond well. Others have lower activity and may be partial responders or non-responders.
That is one reason standard treatment can feel hit and miss.
Tretinoin plays a supporting but useful role. First, it helps improve turnover at the scalp surface and can enhance penetration of topical ingredients through the skin barrier. Second, there is evidence that it may help improve sulphotransferase activity in some patients, which may support minoxidil response where that pathway is weaker.
So, tretinoin may help minoxidil reach the follicle more effectively and, in some cases, help the follicle activate it more efficiently.
Finasteride works on a different part of the hair loss pathway. It reduces the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, by inhibiting 5 alpha reductase type 2. This matters because type 2 is one of the key enzyme forms involved in DHT production in hair follicles that are genetically sensitive to androgen-driven miniaturisation.
Put simply, finasteride helps reduce one of the main hormonal signals telling follicles to shrink.
Dutasteride works on the same broad pathway as finasteride, but it takes a wider approach. It inhibits both 5 alpha reductase type 1 and type 2, which means it can reduce DHT production more broadly across the pathway.
In simple terms, if finasteride narrows the hormonal pressure by blocking type 2, dutasteride goes wider by blocking both type 1 and type 2.
These can be prescribed alone or in combination, depending on the treatment plan.
Why combinations can make sense
Hair loss rarely follows a neat script. Some people mainly need follicle stimulation. Others need stronger control of DHT-driven miniaturisation. Some need both. That is why Gro includes:
Single-ingredient formulas
Dual-ingredient formulas
Triple-ingredient formulas
For example:
Minoxidil supports growth and follicle activity
Finasteride or dutasteride help reduce DHT-related pressure on follicles
Tretinoin can help support penetration and may improve minoxidil response in some patients
Together, these ingredients can target more than one part of the hair loss process at the same time.
Discover how genetics affect your hair
Hair loss treatment is more useful when it is informed, not guessed.
TrichoTest helps reduce guesswork. It is a pharmacogenetic test that analyses genetic markers linked to hair loss susceptibility and treatment response across several clinically relevant pathways.
That matters because not everyone responds to the same ingredient in the same way.
How TrichoTest and Gro work together
A test result on its own is only helpful if it leads to a practical plan. Gro makes that possible.
If TrichoTest suggests strong minoxidil response, a minoxidil-led formula may make sense. If it suggests that penetration support may help, tretinoin can be considered. If the wider picture suggests that DHT-driven miniaturisation needs more attention, finasteride or dutasteride may be more appropriate.
In other words, TrichoTest helps identify the biology, while Gro gives us the flexibility to act on it.
The three formulation types
The active ingredients matter, but the vehicle matters too. If the base stings, dries the scalp, or leaves an uncomfortable residue, people often stop using it. That is not a motivation problem. It is a formulation problem.
Gro solves that by giving you more than one vehicle, so the treatment can fit your scalp rather than fighting it.

Topical hair loss liquid
A traditional spray solution containing alcohol and propylene glycol. It is well-established and offers efficient scalp penetration. Many people choose it when they want a direct, familiar format.

Topical hair loss foam
A lighter, faster-drying option that is easier to apply without dripping. Many people choose it when they want treatment to fit more neatly into daily life.

Trichosol topical solution
A propylene glycol free and alcohol free option designed for sensitive or reactive scalps. Many people choose it when standard topical vehicles have caused irritation, dryness, or stinging.
Gro product options
The Gro range includes the following compounded options, each supplied as 30ml bottles using the same consistent pricing structure across the range.
- Dutasteride 0.05%, 0.1%, or 0.2% in liquid, foam, or Trichosol
- Finasteride 0.05%, 0.1%, or 0.2% in liquid, foam, or Trichosol

- Dutasteride 0.05%, 0.1%, or 0.2% in liquid, foam, or Trichosol
- Finasteride 0.05%, 0.1%, or 0.2% in liquid, foam, or Trichosol
- Minoxidil 5% in liquid, foam, or Trichosol
- Dutasteride 0.05%, 0.1%, or 0.2% + minoxidil 5% + tretinoin 0.01% in liquid, foam, or Trichosol

Custom compounds when standard options are not enough
Not every scalp, routine, or treatment history fits neatly into a standard formula. That is why Courier Pharmacy can also prepare custom compounded hair loss treatments where clinically appropriate.
This gives more flexibility around:
Ingredient selection
Strength adjustment
Vehicle choice
Tolerability needs
More personalised treatment planning
So if you need a more tailored route, there’s room to build it.
Start A ConsultationMore than treatment
At Courier Pharmacy, we believe healthcare should be personal, accessible, and rooted in community.
That is why our wider brand is built around more than transactions. We offer education, expert support, and real human connection for people who often feel overlooked by standard care. Hair loss may not look the same as MCAS, fibromyalgia, or chronic fatigue, but the feeling of being dismissed or stuck with generic answers can be very similar.
Our role is to help you feel informed, supported, and less alone while you work out what fits.
At Courier Pharmacy our core beliefs are:
- Healthcare that fits you.
- Healthcare should fit the person, not force the person to fit the system.
- Personalised healthcare, expert guidance, and community support for people who need more than one-size-fits-all care.
Who the Gro range may suit
Gro may suit adults with pattern hair loss who:
- want a more personalised route than standard off-the-shelf products
- need a formula matched to their scalp tolerability
- want a choice of liquid, foam, or Trichosol
- may benefit from a minoxidil-led, anti-androgen-led, or combination approach
- want treatment shaped by clinical assessment and, where relevant, TrichoTest results
A medically responsible route
Gro is not a pick-and-mix shelf. Treatment starts with a proper assessment. Suitability is reviewed, scalp history is considered, and the formula is chosen based on what makes clinical sense for the individual.
That means the goal is not to throw every ingredient at the problem. Instead, it is to choose the right route, in the right vehicle, at the right strength.
